New Zealanders look to be getting a handle on their financial woes

New Zealanders look to be getting a handle on their financial woes

Centrix's latest Credit Indicator report shows the number of Kiwi consumers behind on their credit payments, has dropped to 12.5 percent in April.

The number of homeowners behind on their mortgage repayments has also eased for the second consecutive month but is still up 14 percent year-on-year.

Managing director Keith McLaughlin says consumer debts seem to have plateaued.

He says there are signs households have got to grips with the current economic environment and are budgeting better.
