Jannik Sinner has become the first Italian to top the men's world tennis rankings since computerised entries began in 1973, replacing the injured Novak Djokovic

The 22-year-old has 33 wins, three losses and three titles this season, including his first grand slam at the Australian Open in January.

Compatriot Jasmine Paolini, who lost to Iga Swiatek in the French Open women's final, jumped to a career-best number seven.
