A view an OCR cut could be on the cards after better than expected inflation data

A view an OCR cut could be on the cards after better than expected inflation data

Stats NZ data shows the Consumer Price Index rose 3.3 percent in the year to June, down from four-percent annually to March.

ASB Senior Economist Mark Smith says there are three more opportunities to cut the OCR before the end of the year.

He says the Reserve Bank will have some requirements before it decides to cut.

Smith says they will want to see inflation drop into the 1 to 3 percent range, and be confident that it will stay there for a long period.
