Dame Helen Mirren still feels "desire" at the age of 79

The Oscar-winning actress - who married Hollywood director Taylor Hackford, 79, in 1997 - admitted that despite the fact she is approaching her 80th birthday, she continues to "love" life and does not intend to "lie down" for a while yet. She told PEOPLE: "I still feel desire. That doesn't change at all. I don't think that ever goes. Life is too short to not live it to its fullest. If you don't live it fully, you'll end up looking back and wishing you did. "People talk about getting old. You have to go through life and enjoy every minute, every moment of it. The moment you start getting lazy, you'll end up lying down and staying there. You've got to keep going." Meanwhile, the former 'Prime Suspect' star previously explained that she doesn't "think" about getting older and will always consider herself to be "young at heart". She said: "I don't think about getting older. I just love being alive and the beauty that comes with it. "I'm not good at taking care of myself but I do what I can to stay healthy. I still feel like I'm 20 in my heart and I'm not ready to settle down for anything yet. "I feel young at heart, and I think that's what counts. I've had an amazing career and I am grateful for everything that has happened to me over the years. Life is a wonderful gift and I'm just trying to live it to the fullest."
