They've prosecuted a man after his unsecured dog fell from the back of his vehicle, while travelling 60k in Christchurch's Belfast last September.
The American Bulldog - named Jed - made a screaming sound as he hit the road, before his owner dragged him by the collar across the pavement and drove off with Jed back on the open deck of his vehicle.
SPCA CEO Todd Westwood says this case is a stark reminder of the care required.
The driver's been fined almost 2-thousand dollars.
