The New Zealand stock exchange could be about to get a little bit smaller

Warehouse founder Sir Stephen Tindall is teaming up with an Australian private equity firm, to make a pitch for The Warehouse Group, which has been shedding assets and laying off staff due to falling sales.

And an American private equity firm is making a two-billion dollar takeover bid of retirement giant Arvida Group.

JMI Wealth Director Andrew Kelleher says the share price of both companies have jumped in response to the news.

But he says it could mean two prominent businesses could be leaving the NZX.
