Police arrested the pair last month.
Kaixiao Liu and Lanyue Xiao are charged with "offering an indignity" to the body -- with a maximum penalty of two years in prison.
Court documents allege they interfered with the body in Orewa, four days before the woman's remains were found.
The man and woman, both 36, deny the charge and are heading to trial.
The investigation into the still unidentified woman's death is ongoing.
