Armed Robberies in Northland and Auckland late this afternoon

Armed Robberies in Northland and Auckland late this afternoon

A security guard has been hospitalised after a botched jewellery store robbery in Auckland's Mt Roskill.

CCTV footage shows one of the offenders hitting the guard in the head with a hammer.

Reinforced glass defeated the groups efforts to break into the store.

The guard is reportedly in a stable condition.

In the Waipapa retail centre, near the Bay of Islands, offenders entered the store armed with weapons, and damaged a number of display cabinets.

A staff member was also assaulted in the store, but was not seriously injured.
