An expert believes there could be another death around Wellington's waterfront, before safety work's finished
8 August 2024
A former consultant to Wellington City Council has spoken during an inquest into the death of Sandy Calkin - whose body was found in the harbour in June 2021.
The death, and subsequent incidents, have brought the waterfront's safety into question.
The consultant says lighting was important, but more needs to be done to define the edges of the waterfront.
Temporary safety measures are staying in place while the council works on a long term solution.
The inquest's scheduled to finish tomorrow .
