Patients care has been slashed due to a doctor shortage at Waikato Hospital

Patients care has been slashed due to a doctor shortage at Waikato Hospital

There's been half the number of medical registrars needed to staff the hospital in the past three months.

Registrars are the doctors who care for patients suffering from heart attacks, pneumonia, strokes and diabetes.

NZ Resident Doctors Association National Secretary Deborah Powell says they're calling on the government and Health NZ to address the issue.
