    The security of a New Zealand Cricket central contract's been welcomed by all-rounder Nathan Smith


    The Wellington Firebird joins Josh Clarkson in being upgraded to one of 20 Black Caps deals for the next year.

    Smith says his previous domestic contract only covered eight months of the year - so the upgrade gives him more certainty.



    Smith says his number one goal is to play test cricket - and chasing lucrative deals as a white-ball gun for hire around the world isn't on his radar.
