Belief simultaneous arrests in the North and South Islands have shot across the bow of dodgy car wreckers, operating 'chop shops'

Belief simultaneous arrests in the North and South Islands have shot across the bow of dodgy car wreckers, operating 'chop shops'

Two men - aged 21 and 39 - have been charged during simultaneous search warrants in Upper Hutt and Christchurch.

They're accused of receiving stolen vehicles to dismantle and export them as parts.

Police say the stolen vehicles - many commercial models like vans - have much more value being sold for parts versus being re-birthed for complete re-sale.

Investigators believe the pair have been fuelling vehicle thefts in both wider districts.
