A new analysis shows most people who caught and spread measles in our worst epidemic in decades, were unvaccinated

A new analysis shows most people who caught and spread measles in our worst epidemic in decades, were unvaccinated

During the 2019 Auckland epidemic, there were 2200 cases were reported, and more than 600 people were hospitalised.

A further 83 measles-related deaths were reported in Samoa, after the outbreak spread there.

Of the almost 1500 hundred cases analysed, just 10 percent had one dose of the vaccine, and five percent had two jabs.

The study found vaccinated people, even if not completely immune to infection, were much less likely to contribute to wider outbreaks.
