A former Minister doubts David Seymour will get political support for his Treaty Principles Bill

A former Minister doubts David Seymour will get political support for his Treaty Principles Bill

Seymour says Cabinet discussed the Bill yesterday, making several tweaks and agreeing to its broad outline.

He says it will be changed to acknowledge the rights of hapu and iwi at the time of the Treaty.

Former Treaty Negotiations Minister Chris Finlayson says it takes him back to the Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi Deletion Bill in 2006.

He says it was gibberish and died a natural death -- and he thinks this Bill is destined to suffer the same fate.
