The completion date for repairs to an Auckland sinkhole have been delayed once again

The completion date for repairs to an Auckland sinkhole have been delayed once again

A giant sinkhole opened up on St Georges Bay Road in Parnell last September, after a sewer line collapsed - caused by a combination of factors including heavy rain and deteriorating pipes.

In June, Watercare expected the carpark to be reinstated this month - it's now been pushed until the end of the year.

Asset and upgrades renewals manager Suzanne Lucas says the delay's down to the weather, because if the sewer fills up with rain, they can't send workers in there.

She says the high rainfall over June and July impacted on their progress, and they weren't able to access the sewer as often as they'd liked.
