Nine people have been arrested after a shot was fired close to a popular nightclub, near Napier's Ahuriri overnight

Nine people have been arrested after a shot was fired close to a popular nightclub, near Napier's Ahuriri overnight

A Police spokesman says nobody was injured when the shot was fired.

The alleged shooter got out of a car and fired the shot, which wasn't directed at or inside the club.

Police found their vehicle 10 minutes later in Taradale, and the nine occupants -- aged between 15 and 22 -- surrendered without incident.

A .22 calibre firearm was then found a short distance away.

Police say enquiries are ongoing, and charges are likely.
