Tim Southee believes he's still deserving of a spot in the Black Caps' test squad to tour India after standing down as captain

Tom Latham has taken the reins after Southee ended his tenure as skipper with six wins, six losses and two draws through just under two years at the helm.

The veteran seamer produced only two wickets in 49 overs in the 2-nil series hiding at the hands of Sri Lanka.

But Southee's buoyant about his chances of backing up in India.



The three-test series starts in a fortnight.
