General Practitioners say another nail's being hammered into their coffin

General Practitioners say another nail's being hammered into their coffin

Health New Zealand's teaching health workers to train others on inserting long-acting contraception devices - to prevent pregnancy and help with conditions like endometriosis..

The courses are funded for nurses, midwives and rural staff, but GPs must pay the up to 800 dollar cost.

General Practitioners Aotearoa Interim Chair, Buzz Burrell says it's yet another insult to GPs - and not in New Zealand's best interests.

He says we are driving towards either a completely private and / or a third world health system.
