Police and DOC jointly undertook compliance checks at the Waiau river mouth from 10pm to 1am last night.

The men were fishing outside regulated hours, and their nets were seized.

    They'll face enforcement from DOC.

Penalties can include fishing equipment being destroyed, a 400-dollar fine, or court prosecution.
