A world-leading clinical trial is looking at new ways to prevent one of the most common infections

A world-leading clinical trial is looking at new ways to prevent one of the most common infections

It's investigating a potential new treatment for genital herpes - currently people need daily medication.

At least 80 percent New Zealanders have at least one of the viruses that can cause the infection.

New Zealand Clinical Research spokesperson Professor Ed Gane says this is the first research of this type of treatment.

He says the trials are only happening here and in Australia.
