Diabetes NZ says Health NZ needs to be more specific with its diabetes information
4 November 2024
The national agency's figures show 323,700 Kiwis have the disease, an increase of 95,700 in three years.
But it doesn't specify which have Type 1 diabetes, and which have Type 2.
They require different treatment and prevention.
Diabetes NZ CEO, Heather Verry, says the rise in cases is worrying, but there also needs to be more clarity.
She says if they have clearer data they'll be able to work with the numbers and know exactly what areas need input and intervention.
