    Rain and wind warnings are covering the South Island this morning


    Heavy rain is forecast on the West coast, with strong winds on the East.

    MetService's Alec Holden says this weather isn't totally unexpected.

    He says at the start of summer, they still get these spring-like episodes roll in.
