Nearly half of Givealittle donations in the last year went towards funding medical bills and community projects

Nearly half of Givealittle donations in the last year went towards funding medical bills and community projects

New data from the crowdfunding site shows more than $33-million dollars was donated through to June this year, with Aucklanders giving close to $14 million and Gisborne locals topping the list with an average donation of $100 each.

Healthcare costs made up 22-percent of all donations, followed closely by community initiatives.

CEO Lythan Chapman says New Zealanders are generous at heart, even in financial difficulty.

She says helping others is part and parcel of being a Kiwi.
