Chris Martin feels "sad" that his children have left home

The 47-year0old singer has daughter Apple, 20, and 18-year-old Moses with his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow and both of them have flown the nest to go to college, but while he misses them, he insisted it would be "weirder" if he wanted them to stay

He told Rolling Stone: "It's sad. That's the only word. But of course it'd be weirder if they were still like, 'I can't leave.' Then you'd be more worried."

Meanwhile, the Coldplay star has now been in a relationship with 'Fifty Shades of Grey' actress Dakota Johnson 35, since 2017 and despite rumours that the relationship had cooled off as of late, he remained coy when asked about his situation.

He said: "It is important to say that [romantic love] is such a big factor in everything, even though it feels right to keep it precious and private; I'm not denying its power.

"[My best friends] are Phil, Dakota, Jonny, Will, and Guy. My kids.".

Gwyneth - who split from Chris in 2016 and now is now married to 'Glee' creator Brad Falchuk - also spoke out about how she has been coping since her children went off to college.

The Goop founder spoke about how she would struggle to cope with an empty home, but also told fans in a online question and answer session she was confident in the abilities of her children to handle life.

Gwyneth said: "I think my kids both really know themselves very well and that's a trait about them that I both love and admire."

She has also admitted she worries about them getting anxiety out on their own, adding in a web chat: "This is, as we know, the anxious generation. So that's probably what I worry about."
