Police today found a ski pole in the search for the bodies of three climbers missing on Aoraki Mount Cook since the beginning of December

Police today found a ski pole in the search for the bodies of three climbers missing on Aoraki Mount Cook since the beginning of December

A change in weather, allowed Search and Rescue staff to conduct a further search on the mountain after calling it off days after the trio went missing.

Staff travelled up via helicopter, and found a ski pole, but not the American or Canadian climbers.

They say they're in touch with the families of the three men on today's search efforts.

Police are still formally suspending the search, however are ready if fresh information or credible sightings are reported.
