Biosecurity New Zealand is determined to prevent an entrenched fruit fly population growing

A single male fly has been found in South Auckland.

There are restrictions in place around removing fresh fruit and vegetables out of the area in Papatoetoe where the fly was found.

Biosecurity New Zealand Commissioner North Mike Inglis says it's hard to say exactly how long the restrictions will last.
