Cook Strait ferry passengers can expect big waves and strong winds for the rest of the week, as wintry conditions continue

Cook Strait ferry passengers can expect big waves and strong winds for the rest of the week, as wintry conditions continue

A low-pressure system has been bringing the colder, wet weather across the country.

Ferry sailings have again been disrupted by large swells and strong winds this morning.

MetService Meteorologist Mmathapelo Makgabutlane says strong winds will continue today, bringing rough sea conditions.

She says the winds ease for a time tomorrow, before picking up again later in the day.

A heavy rain watch is in place for Hawke's Bay until tomorrow morning.
