Optimism that new gun legislation cracks down on illegal gangs

Optimism that new gun legislation cracks down on illegal gangs

Consultation on changes to the Arms Act is open from today - through February.

Associate Justice Minister Nicole McKee believes previous gun reform hasn't made New Zealand any safer.

Coalition of Licensed Firearms Owners spokesperson Hugh Devereux-Mack says we need to start focusing better on criminals who use guns.

He says licensed firearms owners aren't the ones committing such offences, yet they're often affected by law changes.
