Consumer spending growth in 2024 was the slowest it's been in half a decade

Consumer spending growth in 2024 was the slowest it's been in half a decade

Wordline's annual figures show core retailers, excluding hospitality, reached 36.3 billion-dollars last year.

    That's up 0.8 percent on 2023.

While the number of transactions increased, the average size declined by 0.6 percent - to just over 50-dollars.

Chief sales officer Bruce Proffit says the low growth confirms how tough the retail environment was last year.
