Restrictions remain in place after the discovery of a fruit fly in Auckland

Restrictions remain in place after the discovery of a fruit fly in Auckland

There's been no sign of the flies since the finding on January 3, in a suburban backyard in the Papatoetoe-Mangere area.

A notice, controlling movements of fruit and vegetables, was put in place for two weeks.

Biosecurity NZ commissioner Mike Inglis says teams have been out and about at various markets over the weekend.

    He's praising the community response.
