A key site in central Wellington that's been boarded up since 2019, is set to be re-developed

A key site in central Wellington that's been boarded up since 2019, is set to be re-developed

A deal has finally been struck for the city's derelict Reading Cinemas - after the Wellington City Council's initial plan to buy the land fell through.

Private developer PrimeProperty has bought the site for 38 million dollars, with plans to strengthen it against possible earthquakes.

Spokesperson Eyal Aharoni says the development will definitely help the city, particularly the downcast Courtenay Place.
