Rotorua police ran Operation Trolley last week, focusing on educating local businesses and enforcing the illegal use of shopping trolleys outside the boundaries of their stores

It's after they received complaints about homeless people with trolleys intimidating members of the public.

Police say while being homeless isn't a crime, antisocial or unlawful behaviour won't be tolerated.

Seven people were arrested and given verbal warnings, and 19 trespass notices were given out.

Six others were arrested for historical offences, and 45 trolleys were returned.
