Specialist fire investigators are working to establish the origin and cause of a fire in a multi-storey building in Wellington

Fire crews were called to an apartment fully involved in fire in the Pukehinau complex on Willis Street just after 2.30pm yesterday.

No-one was in the third floor flat at the time at the time - and firefighters extinguished the fire and ventilated the entire building.

Community Housing Provider Te Toi Mahana says their teams are providing support to affected tenants.

Mayor Tory Whanau says she's relieved no one was injured in the incident.
