Taylor Lautner is playing himself as a werewolf hunter in a new series

The former 'Twilight Saga' actor played Jacob Black - a shapeshifter who turned into a wolf - in the iconic film series based on Stephanie Meyers' vampire novels, and he will revisit the franchise in a unique show currently under development at Amazon MGM Studios

As reported by Variety, the official logline reads: "After wrapping the final 'Twilight' film, Taylor Lautner vanished from the spotlight.

"Fans speculated, tabloids theorized - but the truth is wilder than fiction.

"Taylor wasn't just taking a mental health break. He was preparing for his real calling... 'Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter.' "

The show will feature the fictional version of Taylor, 33, leading a "double life" as he tries to balance "saving the world" with relaunching his acting career and finding love.

The synopsis continues: "Playing himself, Taylor is drawn into a secret society of werewolf trackers who need his unique expertise.

"As he navigates his double life - Hollywood actor by day, supernatural warrior by night - Taylor must wrestle with the ultimate irony: fighting the very creatures that made him famous.

"Between saving the world, reviving his career, and falling in love, he faces the ultimate question - what happens when your biggest role becomes your greatest enemy?"

Independent studio Tornante - which is behind the likes of 'Undone' and 'BoJack Horseman' - has brought the project to Amazon, while Daisy Gardner is creator and showrunner.

Taylor - who was 16 when the first film came out in 2008 and 19 when he finished working on finale 'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' - previously admitted that the fame he experienced due to 'Twilight' meant to didn't leave the house for a while in case he got recognised.

He told the 'Today' show in 2022: "It built up something inside of me where, I didn't know it, but I was scared to go out. I'd get super anxious to go out. So I just didn't."

Taylor's most recent film role was 'Home Team' in 2022, which came six years after he appeared in 'Run The Tide'.

On the small screen, he played Dr. Cassidy Cascade in the second season of 'Scream Queens' in 2016, as well as portraying Dale Ashbrick Jr on BBC sitcom 'Cuckoo' between 2014 and 2018.
