Brooke Shields isn't interested in "chasing beauty"

The 59-year-old actress has revealed that she's no longer as" judgemental" about herself as she used to be

The Hollywood star told HELLO! magazine: "This is a different age than it used to be. It's not about chasing beauty any more. There are different opportunities for women in their 40s, 50s and 60s now.

"Yes, I want to look my best and I want to be healthy - I always say that I wish everything was a little higher and a little tighter. But I earned every line I have on my face. It's liberating not to be tied by biology any more."

Brooke used to obsess about her appearance during her younger years. But the actress has become much more philosophical about the issue in recent times.

She explained: "I forgive myself more now.

"The older I've got the more I've forgiven myself for not chasing things I used to. I'm not as judgemental about myself as I used to be. I don't compare myself with others the way I used to.

"I've forgiven myself for not looking a certain way or having a certain type of body in the way our society so often demands."

Brooke previously claimed that she's never been "afraid" of ageing.

The actress told PEOPLE: "I've been ageing for so long. I'm used to it by now.

"I think that the messaging around ageing is unfortunately predominantly negative. That is not the narrative that I am living - and we don't deserve to live that narrative."

Brooke's outlook on life actually changed after she turned 50.

She said: "I think after you turn 50, so much opened up for me. I had raised my kids. I had a different place that I was putting myself in my life. I think I was never afraid of the next decade or the next year."
