Fire fighting efforts are continuing for a fourth day, on a blaze in the South Island's Lewis Pass

Fire fighting efforts are continuing for a fourth day, on a blaze in the South Island's Lewis Pass

The 40-hectare fire broke out - mostly in farm land - between Hanmer Springs and Springs Junction on Saturday.

Fire and Emergency says crews made good progress identifying and dampening down hotspots yesterday.

Ground crews are expected back at the fire ground this morning, using information from overnight drone thermal imaging to guide them digging out further hotspots.
