    A mad dash to Dublin airport has hit the mark for Irish amateur darts player Michael Flynn


    The 32-year-old social care worker from County Limerick has stunned three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen in round one of the Players Championship event in the Netherlands.

    Flynn was only added to the entry list on Sunday night after several withdrawals - promptly scampering three hours to Dublin airport to catch a flight .

    The player known as 'The Flyer' - is ranked 11th on the Challenge Tour, which is used as a reserve list for Players Championship events.
