A Canadian Billionaire making moves on the board of publisher, NZME, is responding to union concerns

Jim Grenon holds 9.3 percent shares in the media company - which owns Newstalk ZB, BusinessDesk and the Herald.

E tu has asked for assurances journalists' editorial independence won't be affected.

NZME Editor at Large, Shayne Currie, says Grenon wants NZME to release his statement to the company.

He says Grenon believes it'll show the union and journalists he wants to invest in editorial initiatives.
