Regional economies in the south are continuing their winning streak

Otago, Canterbury, Tasman, and Southland have placed in the top four spots on ASB's Regional Economic Scoreboard - which rates regions based on year-on-year growth.

Chief Economist Nick Tuffley says these South Island regions show retail spending, employment, and construction are strong.

He says increased activity in these areas is a common theme for driving growth, and contrasts to other areas where activity has been contracting.
