A teen accused of attacking a woman at a Christchurch park last month - giving her a significant head injury - now faces serious sex charges

The woman was found at Stanmore Road's Richmond Village Green early last month.

A 16-year-old was arrested three weeks later, and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault in relation to a second victim, and theft from days earlier.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karen Simmons has now revealed the teenager is facing charges relating to serious, violent sexual offending.
