Police have seized around 57-thousand dollars from a Hamilton man after finding cannabis in his possession

Police have seized around 57-thousand dollars from a Hamilton man after finding cannabis in his possession

Open Justice reports Royce Khan's car and home was searched in April 2020, finding the money and over two kilograms of the drug.

Khan was sentenced to nine months' home detention in December 2020, after admitting three charges of possessing cannabis for supply.

He later revealed the money was from his sales, but didn't claim ownership of it -- which saw a restraining order being issued against it, in March last year, four years after it was seized.

The judge ruled Police shouldn't have held onto it beyond Khan's sentencing, without court approval, and ordered the money to be forfeited to the Crown.
