Brooke Shields once walked in on George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara while they were in their bedroom

The 59-year-old actor and model, best known for her role in 'Blue Lagoon', recalled the embarrassing incident while co-hosting 'Today With Jenna and Friends' alongside Jenna Bush Hager, the couple's granddaughter

Brooke said the late-night encounter happened after she got an unexpected invitation to the Bush home in Kennebunkport, Maine.

She explained she had developed a "sweet" friendship with late president George Bush in the 1980s, leading her to be asked to join them.

Brooke added: "I was doing a movie in Boston, and I get a phone call - doesn't say who he is - literally says, 'Excuse me, young lady, I hear you're in the area. If you do not come to Kennebunkport, you are in trouble, young lady'.

"And of course, that was Papa Bush."

During Brooke's visit, which took place around 15 years ago, the actress brought along her daughters, Rowan, now 21, and Grier, now 18, to the Walker's Point compound.

One night, after putting her kids to bed, she noticed ocean water seeping into the house.

She said: "I'm panicking, right? And I'm thinking, 'Oh my God, I gotta tell somebody, but nobody's in the house!'"

Brooke ended up knocking on George and Barbara's bedroom door, and added: "So, I go to the downstairs bedroom and, like, with the fear of God (in me)... ."

Inside, she found the pair sitting in La-Z-Boy chairs, watching 'Law and Order: SVU' with TV dinners in front of them.

Brooke said: "I mimicked shielding my eyes with both of my hands because Barbara was in her dressing gown.

"And I'm like, 'I just want to tell you that I think the house might have flooded, but I think I got it.'"

Barbara, seemingly unfazed, invited Brooke to sit between their chairs and watch television.

Brooke said: "She's like, 'George, maybe Brooke can answer this question... ask her, ask her'.

"He goes, 'Well, who do you think did it?'"

Brooke ended up watching the rest of the show with them, adding: "I was like, 'This is a moment of my life that was so special.'"

Jenna, 43, thanked Brooke for sharing the memory of her grandparents, who both died in 2018.

Brooke also reflected on her bond with George, saying: "I never had a grandfather, and since I was quite young, he would give me boy advice and be like, 'OK, I like that one. I don't like this one.' It was a very sweet relationship that I needed to have and hadn't had with anyone else."
