A new UN committee report reinforces calls for a capital gains tax

A new UN committee report reinforces calls for a capital gains tax

The Committee's urging governments to check policies are applied proportionally to the wealthy

It says existing and proposed policies should be holistically reviewed to avoid disproportionately affecting lower-income earners.

Denton tax partner Bruce Bernacchi says a capital gains tax here could be good for the economy.

He says it could be used to fund tax reductions and incentivise people to work more, or fund a corporate tax reduction and get more investment in business.
