Gwyneth Paltrow finds it "thrilling" parenting adults

The 52-year-old star has daughter Apple, 20, and son Moses, 18, with her former husband Chris Martin and reflected on how her relationship with her offspring has evolved now they are grown up themselves

Asked if her parenting technique has changed, Gwyneth told the newest edition of Goop's 'This and That': "It's funny you ask this. I just left my son at the Nashville airport - we were visiting Apple. I had the strangest sensation of leaving this young boy at the airport when he is in fact (of course) a completely independent young man. So in that sense, I think I must still be toggling back and forth between these two realities, one in the past and one in the present.

"Largely, I find this phase thrilling. She will be 21 in May, and he will be 19 next week, and I love parenting at this age - or maybe it's time to find a new word. Relating to them or guiding them, some combination of the two. It's a lot of FaceTime and visits when we can. But I love knowing them as adults and being here for them in ever-evolving ways."

Gwyneth's children are now studying at college and the actress admits that she and her husband Brad Falchuk are "figuring it out" when it comes to adjusting to empty nest life.

She explained: "I think we are still figuring it out. If I look back at how big, meaningful changes have settled in over the course of my life, the time frame is usually a year until the event feels no longer at the forefront and everything readjusts to a comfortable new baseline.

"I think we both feel a bit in limbo, but we are also saying yes to things like bowling on a Tuesday night or finishing the workday with a walk. Things we wouldn't have done during homework and bedtime.?"

Meanwhile, Gwyneth admits that she is looking forward to her "favourite" tradition of doing an Easter egg hunt with her friends' children - even though her own kids will be absent this year.

She said: "I always do a little Easter egg hunt for my friends' kids - it's my favourite thing. This year my kids won't be around for it because they're all in college, but last year I did all the kids' stuff, and then I did stuff for the teenage boys, which was funny. Like lottery tickets and cash. "
