Auckland Police are reassuring residents they're are safe, after a fatal assault at a bus stop on Saturday

33-year-old Kyle Whorrall suffered serious head injuries on Meadowbank's St Johns Road around 10pm.

Police say they're looking for at least two offenders - believed to have been in a black SUV..

Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin says there will be increased police patrols in the area.

He says its a main thoroughfare, and well lit, so it should be a safe area, but the assault happened in under a minute.
