Two people are injured - one seriously - after shots were fired at a car and house in Gisborne last night

Police were called to Taruheru Crescent in Mangapapa, before midnight.

Tairawhiti Area Commander Inspector Danny Kirk says four people - males aged 15, 16, 28 and 36 - have been charged with discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

    Further charges are likely.

Kirk says the incident could easily have resulted in one or more fatalities.
