An expectation the economy's recovery has hit a brick wall

An expectation the economy's recovery has hit a brick wall

GDP figures -- due out from Stats NZ this morning -- are expected to show the country's GDP grew 0.7-percent for the first quarter of the year.

The second quarter is already coming in worse than expected.

Herald business editor at Large Liam Dann says says two surveys of business performance slipped into negative territory in May.

Dann says consumer spending was also down and there were some uninspiring property numbers.
