Canine chaos is on the rise in Auckland

Canine chaos is on the rise in Auckland

The Herald reveals three-thousand dog attacks on people and animals were reported to Auckland Council last year, up more than a thousand compared to 2020.

Manurewa had the most in that period while Fairview Heights, Eden Terrace and Grafton recorded 10 or fewer attacks.

Council Animal Management manager, Elly Waitoa, says the surge is due to a huge increase in dog population since Covid, particularly dogs that aren't registered or desexed
