Police have released CCTV footage showing a car speeding through Auckland's CBD moments before colliding with a police car this morning

Police have released CCTV footage showing a car speeding through Auckland's CBD moments before colliding with a police car this morning

Three people are injured, one seriously, after the two vehicle crash just before six o'clock.

The footage from 5:40am shows a red car racing down Victoria Street through a red light.

It narrowly misses a pedestrian waiting at a crossing - who jumps out of the way.

Images from the crash show the red car wrapped around a street-light pole next to the damaged police car.

Police say the vehicle wasn't being pursued, and the officers were heading back to base to finish off their shift.
