Farmers are knee-deep in a rural connectivity crisis, lacking access to mobile coverage, landlines and internet

Farmers are knee-deep in a rural connectivity crisis, lacking access to mobile coverage, landlines and internet

A survey by Federated Farmers, shows coverage has worsened over the past year, for more than a third of farmers involved.

They also believe mobile coverage only spans over an average of 57-percent of their land, unchanged since 2022.

Federated Farmers telecommunications spokesperson, Mark Hooper, says a lot of rural landlines are being cut off too.

He says mobile companies need to make coverage for farmers a priority, as this has caused a lot of frustration.
